Figure 8. If the maximum shear force falls in Zone IV and if the shear force corresponding to "reduced" maximum spacing is in Zone IV and is less than the maximum shear force, and if the shear force corresponding to regular maximum spacing falls in Zone III, then the spacing, s = 2Asfyd/Vs, is needed until reduced maximum spacing begins in Zone IV, then the spacing, s = 2Asfyd/Vs, is needed beginning in Zone III until regular maximum spacing governs, with no web steel needed in Zone I.
