Stirrup Spacing in Reinforced Concrete Beams: Figure 7
Jonathan Ochshorn
© 2012 Jonathan Ochshorn. This discussion of web steel (stirrups) in reinforced concrete beams supplements a free online stirrup spacing calculator that I developed.
Stirrup spacing calculator | Back to stirrup spacing paper | Figures 1 - 9: A • B • C • D • E • F • G • H • I
Figure 7. If the maximum shear force falls in Zone IV and if the shear force corresponding to "reduced" maximum spacing is in Zone IV and is less than the maximum shear force, and if the shear force corresponding to regular maximum spacing falls in Zone IV, then the spacing, s = 2Asfyd/Vs, is needed until reduced maximum spacing begins in Zone IV, regular maximum spacing is needed in Zones III and II, with no web steel needed in Zone I.
