A week of rain, with only one clear day; so I did remedial work inside the existing house, installing ducts and fans for the two bathrooms (whose windows will be deleted by the new addition)...
...and re-routing the kitchen range fan duct from its existing location above the first-floor bathroom ceiling up through the house, into the attic, and out under the gable.
We did manage to finish the plywood sheathing on the first-floor of the addition, and install the first floor joists.
The largest wall opening in the load-bearing wall gets a 3-1/2" x 9-1/2" "LVL" (laminated veneer lumber) girder: a conventional girder composed of 2x lumber would not be strong enough here.
