Madcad Building Codes Online*

A new edition of the International Building Code is online. Follow these steps to gain access:

Go to the Cornell Library Catalog and type MADCAD in the search field, set for "title."
Click on the link, "Connect to full text" under electronic access.
Click on the button to login to madcad.
In the "Find book by title" field, enter "International Building Code." Find the latest (2012 or 2015) edition.
From this point, you're on your own...

The Cornell library's arrangement with MADCAD now allows just a few students access at the same time; if you can't get into the system, the New York State Building Codes (based largely on versions of the International Building Code) can be found online (for free).

Also note that the 2012 ICC Code and Commentary is also available through MADCAD: this duplicates the formal IBC Code sections but adds an informal (and unofficial) commentary that explains the rationale behind Code language.

Free Online Building Codes

The New York State Building Codes derive from the International Building Codes, with some modifications.

National CAD Standard, v.6*

Go to: United States National CAD Standard — V6.
Under the "Create Account" section, enter license code: E239DFCA-6508-42EE-BFA2-E043EF160053 and your email address as shown below; then click "Submit."
They will send you a temporary password via email. Enter it under "Returning User" along with your email address, and follow instructions to complete the process (you will be able to create a new password).
Remember your password and bookmark the site.
